Crist is asking governintg boards and executive directors of the districtz to continue to include surfac e water and consumptive use permits on all board meeting and other public meeting despite a measure in the bill that delegates finao agency action on such permitzs solely to theexecutive directors. Floridqa is broken up into five watermanagement districts. Crist singled out the South Floridaz WaterManagement District, which covers all of southerjn Florida and into the central part of the in a letter to Secretary of State Kurt S.
“I want to acknowledge the continued work of the South Florida Water Management District in completing the land acquisitioj which will preserve the Florida Everglades for generationwto come,” Crist said. “u thank the members of the governing board as well as the dedicated staff of the districg in ensuringa long-awaited goal of storing, cleaning and movin g water from Lake Okeechobee to Evergladees National Park.
