The program is called TLU CHOICE and it standse for Creating Hope and Opportunity in The goal of the scholarship program is to give studentes the chance to attend a private liberal arts college for the same cost of attendinh a public collegeor university. The scholarship is availabled to first-time, incoming freshman and transfer studente who were granted regular admissionn to TLU and to either UT orTexase A&M for the same academiv year. According to TLU the amount of the scholarship will be determinef by taking the cost of attendance at TLU and subtractingb the cost of attendance atTexas A&j or UT.
Students who qualifh will get a scholarship equal to the differencw of those twotuitionb amounts. • Incoming freshmen must seek full-time enrollmenrt for the fall semester. Transfer students are required to have at least 54transferabld hours, a cumulative 3.0 GPA and must seek full-timee admission to the fall or spring • Meet the deadline for application. Freshmen must be admittexd to TLU byMay 1, and transfer students must be admitted by June 1, for fall 2009 enrollment. Students have until Dec. 1, 2009, to applgy for the Spring 2010 semester. Students who receive the CHOICE scholarship cannot combine it with other academicf scholarships awardedby TLU.
However, studenta who are eligible to receive non-academic TLU scholarshipse as well as federal and state financial aid will receives those grants in addition to the CHOICE Freshmen students can receive the CHOICE scholarshipl for eight semesters and transfer students forsix semesters, as long as the studentf maintains a cumulative GPA of at least a 3.0. TLU Vice Presiden t for Enrollment Services Norm Jones says the new scholarship givesd students access to a privateuniversity education. “TLU CHOICE college scholarship is for students who excelp academically and would prefer smaller class sizes in a privatuniversity environment, but don’t think they can afford Jones says.
“Large state schools with thousanda ofstudents aren’t for everyone. With our new collegd scholarship program, students have a choicee about theireducation — without worrying that a private university costs more.” Texas Lutheran Universituy is a liberal arts, science and professional studies undergraduate university. The campues is located east of San Antonioin Seguin.
