Eddie Bauer Holdings Inc. EBHI) wants a judgse in U.S. bankruptcy court in Delawarre to set a bid deadline of July 14 and a July 16 date to auctionn offthe retailer’s assets. But , headquartererd in Santa Monica, Calif., and three other landlords want more time to evaluatr anyproposed deal. “The landlords did not create debtors’ financial and should not bear the consequences of this bankruptch through loss of theircontractual rights,” Macericgh and the other landlords said in a coury filing Thursday. The New York privated equity firm has made an offer to buyEddiew Bauer’s assets for $202 subject to an auction and bankruptcy court approval. CCMP has said it has agreee to keep most ofEddie Bauer’s 371 stored if it were the winning bidder. But the companyh said it would close an undisclosed number ofunderperforming stores. The Macericn Co. leases space to Eddie Bauer at Redmons Town Centerin Redmond, Wash., and Portland’s Washington Also objecting in the bankruptcy case are Eddie Bauee landlords Southgate Mall Associates, The Forbeds Co. and Collectively the four companiesx lease space to 20 Eddie Baue stores in14 states.
